This blog entry is for all singles. All shapes, sizes, personalities, and reasons for being single included. I challenge you to reconsider your singleness. Consider that it is meant for more than you. Consider that it is meant for more than hanging out, more than biding time in the process of finding the right mate, even more than building yourself up after a loss of some sort that has left you single.
I challenge you to consider that your singleness is for the progression of the gospel. The gospel you say? Absolutely, the gospel that Jesus Christ has come to restore the relationship with God the father that mankind was made for but is separated from by sin. You have resources that married people do not. You have the opportunity to travel overseas, to spend late
hours to give of yourself sacrificially for the gospel in a way that married men and women cannot.
Many of you are single with kids and think these things do not apply to you because you do not have the flexibility that I have mentioned above. However, you have a testimony like no other and have a platform among those who share your lot like no one else.
Am I downplaying marriage? In no way. Marriage is good, it is God's design. But both marriage and singleness are a blessing from God. Paul confirms this when he says, "I wish that all were as I myself am. But each has his own gift from God, one of one kind and one of another." (1 Corinthians 7:6)
Finally, I challenge you not to waste this time. You may be single for 2 more years or for the rest of your life but either way, you are single now so please do not waste this time. Seek the Lord, and find out what He would have you do now for the gospel to be spread. Even if you die in the pursuit, if you are a child of God you will meet your bridegroom immediately! Oh what a marriage!
