Forgetful night....Scandalous Morning....

My memory is an interesting thing. I can remember a face or a name from my preschool years but forget to do the simplest tasks. Yesterday I kept reminding myself that I needed to pick up my suits from the cleaners because I needed to wear one of them to work today for a special event. Kari and I ran to Chick-fil-a (cleaners on the way), ran to church (again passing the cleaners) then ran to Wal-mart and Academy (right by the cleaners). We then fell into the car completely exhausted and drove home. As we unloaded the car it hit me....MY SUITS! Unlike my normal pattern of leaving at least one suit at home while cleaning the rest, I figured it was Christmas and who gave a who what I wore! Well, to say the least, I was mad at myself and my middle school hair brained memory.

Flash forward 9 hours, I have slept, run, showered and am now dressed in my full attire, minus the suit. My outfit consisted of a nice beige turtleneck with a brand new "sweater thangy" (quote from Sweet Home Alabama) and black heels. Pause for dramatic affect. The cleaners open early so I headed out the door with only one problem....where to change???? I got to the cleaners in a jiffy since no one else seems to be open at 7:00am. As the lady slowly picked out my large order I scanned the parking lot for a quiet, unsurvelanced spot where I could make a quick change. About that time I heard what sounded like a tornado as a cleaning truck rounded the corner sucking up trash out of the parking lot. I watched these two guys twirl about the parking lot picking up wrappers and receipts and prayed they would GO AWAY! Finally, she came back with all my stuff and my receipt and it was time to pick. I pulled out and watched where my little trash collecting friends went and then sprinted (in my car) to the middle of the parking lot away from building cameras and would be customers. I was shocked at the speed with which I could make my costume change and return to the road unnoticed as if this was a normal activity.

The funniest part about all of this is that just now as I began typing this out, I remembered that although I picked up my cleaning this morning....I totally forgot to drop off the two pairs of pants that were sitting in my back seat. If memory gets worse with age then I guess all I have to say is....."It was nice knowing ya!"
