Are we moving through our lives like a fighter jet cruising at top speeds yet headed straight for the ground? Dallas Willard asked this question and I have to as well.
Are we flying upside down when trivial pursuits such as college football steal our emotions, our money, our time and our conversations...when we can't spare the time to dig into the Word deeper or go on missions yet, we have time for endless entertainment and expensive meals....when every passion in our lives surpasses our passion for Christ? We have confused the gospel with a watered down version and come to belive that as long as life is safe and happy, it is good. What if safe is extremely dangerous? What if we turned the jet over and realized that all the things we sacrifice for and spend countless hours and dollars investing in are far from what Christ asks? What if safe in this life means waste for eternity. What if Christ is calling us to more than this....indeed, different than this altogether.
Well, we would be weird. Our children would be upset with us sometimes. Friends would get tired of hanging around us. We might be considered outcasts, foolish even and one day, one day, we may pay for it with our own lives. And what if the billions of lost on this earth had a chance to hear the gospel and were saved. Would it be worth it? I am scared that most would answer no...
