Haiti on the Heart...

If you have watched any news coverage over the past 13 days or so you are well aware that the poverty stricken and spiritually dark country of Haiti has been devastated by an earthquake registering 7.0 on the Richter Scale.  The loss of life was large, very few structures remain standing and food and water are scarce.  This is the first in a series of blogs to talk out what has been happening in my Haiti heart.
First I want to tell you about my Compassion sponsor child who lives just outside the city of Port-au-Prince.  Guinnenthon is 15 years old and is served by the Cite des Junes Child Development Center on the plains of Delmas.  Guinnenthon is not an orphan but lives with both parents however he is being raised in a country that is only 16% protestant with half the population practices voodoo.

Guinnenthon's status is still unknown.  Following the quake, Compassion has been excellent at communicating what they know but information is still so scarce.  They know that many children have been lost in the quake but the Haitian Compassion staff is still trying to locate children and get word to the sponsors of those children.  Please pray with me for the safety of Guninnenthon, his family, and even his development center where he gets a constant dose of the gospel.

There is so much more to discuss about how the Lord has opened the eyes of the world to this nation.  In the next few posts, I will try to communicate what the Lord is working out in my heart for this nation.
