Fear Rightly....

In our Wednesday Bible study at church our pastor taught on fearing God and not man. He mentioned the verse below and referred to the acts of terrorism committed throughout the World and the September 11th attacks in particular.

4"I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that have nothing more that they can do. 5But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him! 6Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. 7Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows."
Luke 12:4-7
I thought this verse was particularly fitting and hope giving in light of the 8th anniversary of the September 11th attacks. Terrorist cells throughout the World seek to destroy us. As Christians in particular, they consider it their holy duty to eliminate us or at least scare us into submission and silence. But there is hope. While terrorism and acts of evil can steal this life....they are powerless from that point forward. Our hope is in the one whom we meet the second this life is gone if we are indeed His children. Fear this One....love Him...if He knows the whereabouts of sparrows and counts the hairs of your head one by one, you can trust that He has the details of your life under control.
Soli Deo Gloria!
